THE Amazon fulfilment centre in Great Sankey is celebrating National Learning at Work Week this week, by urging staff at the site to sign up for a programme that offers funded, nationally-recognised training courses aimed at developing their career.

The Amazon Career Choice programme encourages its associates to pursue training and qualifications in high-demand fields such as engineering, IT, computer science, mechanical and electrical trades, healthcare, construction, transportation, logistics, accounting and more.

Amazon pre-pays 95 per cent of tuition and associated fees for the nationally-recognised courses, up to £8,000 over four years.

Warrington’s Adam Loughran is one of hundreds of Amazon associates who has taken part in the programme.

He is now encouraging his fellow employees to get involved.

Adam has worked with Amazon since 2017 and studied a course in HGV driving.

He said: “I’ve wanted to develop my skills to become an HGV driver for many years but I’ve never had the opportunity to pursue the qualifications.

"Amazon Career Choice provided me with that opportunity and it’s been fantastic to take part in the programme while continuing my day job at Amazon in Warrington.

“I’ve just finished the course and now I hope to boost my new qualifications with some practical experience before going after a new, full-time career in HGV driving.”

Prashant Pandey, site leader at Amazon in Warrington, said: “We want everyone at Amazon to pursue their dream job and that’s what the Amazon Career Choice programme is all about.

"We believe that of all our associates should have the opportunity to develop their skills and that’s why we’re offering funded training courses in a range of interests and industries.

"I’m looking forward to seeing the latest group of recruits join the Amazon Career Choice programme and congratulate Adam and his colleagues on their achievements.”
