A SUSPECTED murderer who has been on the run from police for more than 15 years has been added to Europe’s most wanted list.

Christopher Guest More Jr, from Lymm, is wanted in connection with the brutal killing of Brian Waters at a farm in Tabley in Cheshire.

The 44-year-old dad-of-two was tied up, beaten with a metal bar, attacked with an industrial staple gun, whipped and burned with acid during a three-hour ordeal in June 2003.

John Wilson, James Raven and Otis Matthews were later jailed for life after being convicted of his murder – with Wilson and Raven each receiving a minimum of 24 years behind bars in 2004 and Matthews being imprisoned for at least 22 years in 2007.

But More is believed to have fled the country shortly after the terrifying incident at Burnt House Farm, near to junction 19 of the M6, by flying to Spain.

Now, nearly 16 years later, he has been added to Europe’s most wanted list as police rekindle their efforts to trace the 41-year-old.

Cheshire Police detective superintendent Sarah Pengelly said: “Today, Christopher Guest More Jr has been added to Europe’s most wanted list.

“This is a significant step forward in our bid to locate him, and I hope that this latest development will help to generate a renewed interest in this case and most importantly valuable information as to his whereabouts.

“Our determination to find Christopher Guest More Jr has not faltered and over the years we have remained committed to locating and arresting him for his alleged involvement in the death of Brian Waters.

“Despite the passage of time, we have never given up hope and a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes out of the public eye in a bid to piece together as much information as possible as to his whereabouts.

“We are doing everything we can to track him down and are confident that with the assistance of our partners in law enforcement in the UK and abroad – coupled with the fact he has now been added to Europe’s most wanted list – that he will be traced.

“I am also appealing for help from the public – somebody somewhere knows where he is, and I would urge them to come forward and speak to us.

“Cheshire Constabulary will not close this case until justice is done for the family of Brian Waters.”

More is alleged to be one of a number of men who travelled to the farmhouse, which was being rented by Mr Waters and used for growing cannabis, and demanded repayment of a £20,000 debt.

But these demands were refuted, and a number of people were attacked – including the murder victim.

Mr Waters was tortured in front of his children before being found dead in a milking shed by his wife.

More, who is described as being white and 6ft tall, has links to Malta and South America as well as Spain – although detectives admit he ‘could be living anywhere’.

It is believed that the suspect jetted out of the country within 48 hours of the murder and was initially staying in the Marbella area.

He is also wanted for the attempted murder of another man, as well as for the false imprisonment and assault of other victims involved in the same incident.

National Crime Agency regional manager Graham Roberts added: “We’re very keen to continue supporting Cheshire Police in finding More Jr, who has been on the run for a long time.

“We have an international network of officers and links to partners abroad which we are using in his pursuit.

“More Jr previously featured on the very successful Operation Captura fugitives hunt, and out of 96 fugitives is one of just 13 who are still evading justice.”
