The oil tanker in the southbound lane of the M6 near junction 22
TWO lanes of the M6 were closed this morning, Saturday, after an oil spillage.
The incident happened on the motorway southbound between junction 23 near Newton-le-Willows and junction 22 for Winwick.
The oil tanker was moved to the hard shoulder and all lanes have been reopened after recovery workers cleared the oil off the road.
Congestion was backing up to junction 24 near Ashton-in-Makerfield.
