AN MP's wife who was given permission to create five dwellings at a property on green belt has submitted a new application relating to the property.

Shkeela Kayani, who is married to Manchester Gorton MP Afzal Khan, was granted permission to convert a garage, outbuilding and stables at their home in Stoneclough Radcliffe earlier this year.

The latest plans submitted this month involve knocking down the stable block to create three new dwellings.

This is to make sure the new buildings receive insurance warranties, according to the application.

The previous landowners of Higher Heaps Barn in Ringley Road West, Mark and Sarah Russell, also applied to convert a stable building in 2014.

However, the application to create one residential dwelling was granted on the condition that it would be used solely for private use by the Russell family.

The Bolton News understands that the stable was not converted and the property was sold with the planning permission in place.

Bolton Council was asked why the conditions placed on Mr Khan's wife differed from the previous application last month.

A spokesman said: “The application was determined in accordance with the relevant policies and considerations, and each application is determined on its own merits.”

Planning officers are expected to decide the outcome of the latest application by the former North West MEP's wife by the end of May.
