MORE than 40 Rudheath Senior Academy Students have taken part in an anti-bullying workshop, thanks to funding from Rudheath and Witton Together.
The training, on Tuesday, April 16, was hosted by The Diana Award charity, which trains anti-bullying ambassadors across the UK.
Students from Year 7 to Year 10 came together on the day to discuss what initiatives they would like to see introduced at their school.
Sandra Skellington, the academy’s Diana Ambassador lead, said: “The children are really excited to have this opportunity to train.
“Following our first training 2 years ago, the Anti Bullying Ambassadors have had an enormous positive impact on the school and having more learners trained will ensure that Rudheath Senior Academy remains a place where everyone knows that they’re not alone.”
Anti-Bullying Ambassador training empowers students and staff to change the attitudes, behaviours, and cultures of bullying by building skills and confidence to address different situations.
The day saw students create an action plan of how to approach reducing bullying in their school, while teachers also received European Commission-funded SELMA training on how to approach the topic of online hate speech in schools.
On the morning of the training, Katy Sneyd of RAW Together presented a funding cheque to the academy.
She said: “Congratulations must go to the pupils involved as their ideas and eloquence lead to this being such a strong proposal.”
