A PUPPY still needs life-saving surgery if he is to have any chance of living a full and healthy life.
Pickle’s story touched thousands earlier this year when staff at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary told how the emaciated young puppy had been bought from online selling site, Gumtree, weighing just 400g.
Realising the puppy was poorly, Pickles was taken to Bleakholt in Ramsbottom where staff took over his care.
It was hoped the Chihuahua cross Jack Russell would have the life-saving surgery in March but he did not weigh enough.
Following weeks of tests, staff at Bleakholt announced over the weekend that he still needs complex surgery.
A spokesman said: “Sadly, it was not the news we were hoping for Pickle.
“His problems now include instability of his vertebrae and he will need very difficult surgery.
“We have everything crossed that we can give him the quality of life he deserves.
“He continues wagging his tail in true fighting spirit.”
The sanctuary continues to fundraise for Pickle’s treatment and anyone wishing to help can visit www.bleakholt.org/puppy-pickle.
