RESIDENTS are being urged to keep windows and doors shut in parts of Warrington due to smoke drifting over from a fire in Manchester.

Firefighters are currently tackling a paper mill fire in Carrington which has caused large amounts of ash and smoke.

The wind is now blowing the smoke over towards Irlam, Cadishead, Glazebrook and Birchwood.

Residents are being reassured that the smoke won't cause them any harm, but windows and doors should be kept shut as a precaution.
