WARRINGTON Borough Council will take enforcement action following concerns over a property which it believes has been empty for almost a decade.

As reported in February, there were almost 2,500 empty residential properties in Warrington in what was labelled as a ‘disgrace’.

Residents have called for action over a site in Bewsey, off Lodge Lane.

The garden of the property is also home to a range of waste and a skip.

But the council has responded to the concerns.

“We always try to work with owners to bring long-term empty properties back into use where possible,” said a spokesman.

“Our records indicate that this property has been empty since 2010.

“The council visited the property on March 15 2019 to assess if any work had been undertaken to bring this property back into use.

“As no work has started on the property, the council has no option but to initiate formal enforcement action.”
