A MUM-OF-TWO has praised Asda in Birchwood for making her shopping trip easier for her three-year-old autistic son.

Katie Renwick, from Padgate, visited the store on Wednesday and after seeing a woman use the disability trolley previously, enquired at customer services.

She said: "When I have both children it can be really hard to steer the pram and trolley and Bobby is too big to fit in the normal seat– I struggle to get him in and out so he usually stands in the main trolley.

"He gets agitated and tries to climb out and grab things off the shelves.

"I saw someone with the trolley last week so I asked at customer services if it was available.

"I think there must only be one and people don't know about it.

"It was great to see him so content and he had loads of space and felt secure with the straps on."

Bobby is non-verbal and was diagnosed with autism aged two.

Katie said he became more aware of what was going on around him and was relaxed during the trip.

She added: "It was such a good shopping experience compared to usual when Bobby is trying to climb out and destroy everything on the shelves.

"He was so happy and comfy. Me and mum needed a crash course on how to steer it but apart from that, spot on.

"It must be so hard if you have a wheelchair and try to steer another trolley or basket, I'm sure a teenager could fit on the seat."
