A POWER cut hit businesses and homes across Kinmel Bay and Towyn.

The power outage, which happened this morning (Wednesday, April 3), was as result of two simultaneous cable faults.

Postcodes affected were LL18 and LL22.

Scottish Power received a report about 9am and initially power was expected to be restored by 10.45am.

An emergency response team was sent to the site to investigate.

Parents and guardians were asked to collect their children at Ysgol Maes Owen, Kinmel Bay, after the school was forced to close due to electricity being intermittent.

Kinmel Bay Asda and Post Office and store also had to close and Golden Sands Holiday Park and Palins Holiday Park were also hit.

Speaking about the power cut, a spokesperson from Scottish Power said: "Most customers were back on just after 1pm and other properties, just before 2pm.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.

"This was down to a cable fault in the area."
