WOLVES star Harvey Livett is hoping to see the West Stand packed full of new faces tomorrow when Warrington take on the London Broncos.

The club are marketing the encounter as ‘Schools Day’, with pupils being able to celebrate the end of term by watching the team for just £1.

And Livett cannot wait to welcome them to The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

“It would be great if we could get as many people into the ground to watch on Friday and even better if some of them are new to the sport,” he said.

“With all respect to London they’re not going to be filling the away stand with the travel distance on a Friday night so hopefully we can get a good crowd in.

“It definitely makes a difference when you cross for a try and all the fans are celebrating rather than in front of an empty stand.”

The England Knights international said he has seen some amazing players from the Warrington terraces and hopes the current Wolves squad can have the same draw on the town’s youngsters.

“I can’t remember my first game because it was that long ago but going to watch Andrew Johns when he made his debut was amazing,” said Livett.

“Being able to watch superstars like him was a massive reason to turn to watch the team.

“We’ve got awesome players across the park with the likes of Blake Austin in particular, so hopefully we can see the Halliwell Jones packed out for the game.”

Being a former pupil of primary and high schools in the town, Livett stated the impact of playing not just rugby, but a variety of different sports in his youth was huge on his career.

“I was a member of the school rugby teams at St Benedict’s Primary and in high school at Cardinal Newman,” stated the 22-year-old.

“Back then I used to mainly play in the centres, but at that age you just play anywhere really.

“One of my best memories from high school was when we won a tournament against different schools from the Warrington area.

“I just used to love PE lessons in general and played a bit of rugby union and other sports in my time there.

“It was massively important to be playing sport and particularly rugby at school as without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Of course, being the son of a professional rugby league player in former Workington Town centre Peter Livett, his parents had a big role in getting to where he is today.

“Knowing my dad played in Super League for Workington definitely spurred me on to try and make it at this level,” he said.

“My mum was also very supportive and took me to play in places all over the country.

“I was rugby mad growing up and used to go to watch Warrington home and away.

“It was always great to get on that coach as a fan with the lads and cheers the team on.

“Hopefully we can get a good crowd against London and go out and get the win for them.”

Friday’s game against the London Broncos kicks off 7.45pm at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, with the Wire looking to maintain their great start to the season.
