A YOUNG dad who went missing in October was struggling with his mental health, an inquest heard.

Christopher Coleman from Orford was reported missing on Wednesday, October 17 and his body was found two days later in woodland behind Poplars Avenue.

The 29-year-old delivery driver had been moving on with his life after the breakdown of a 12 year relationship and cared for his daughter.

An inquest at Cheshire Coroner's Court, sitting in Warrington, on Tuesday heard how he started to struggle with his mental health in September, but did not want to see a doctor because he feared it would hinder him in obtaining his HGV driving licence.

Christopher had suffered an overdose but the inquest heard how he seemed to have turned a corner after this and was more positive.

Before he went missing Christopher was reportedly joking and laughing with his family and they did not suspect anything was wrong.

He told his mother that he was going to bed but she later heard him leave through the front door.

Police confirmed that Cheshire Search and Rescue had found Christopher's body on Friday, October 19, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective sergeant Alison Howarth was on duty at the time.

Her statement read: "I was informed that the search and rescue team had found a body.

"The woods were behind the home address of Christopher's dad which was the last place he had been seen.

"It was over grown – they could not be seen outside of the wood."

She confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Christopher's death.

The inquest heard how Christopher's family was proud of him for trying to stay positive, and how he would always put others before himself.

Heath Westerman, assistant coroner for Cheshire, ruled that Christopher had taken his own life.
