EMERGENCY services are dealing with an incident on the railway.
National Rail reports on Twitter: "Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Newcastle and Darlington. Consequently, trains between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or diverted.
"We anticipate that disruption will continue until at least 09:45."
Services affected are CrossCountry, London North Eastern Railway, Northern and TransPennine Express.
Replacement buses have been requested to run between Newcastle and Darlington.
At 8.30am, authorities reported: "Emergency services have concluded their investigations between Newcastle and Darlington. However, whilst service recovers, trains may be delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised.
"We anticipate that disruption will continue until at least 09:45."
