A CLUB night which salutes Warrington’s Mr Smith’s days is returning to Bruno’s Rodizio.

‘Passion’ will be back at the St Austins Lane venue next Saturday, March 30.

Darren Beddard and Johnny Wilson, who have experience in music, events and showbiz and were Mr Smith’s regulars back in the day, decided to come together to host the monthly club night.

Johnny, from Culcheth, said: “The first Passion night in February was a real success with some of the best DJs in Warrington on the bill.

“There were more than 400 people in attendance for a varied mix of music going from the 80s and 90s and funky house to Mr Smith’s classics and modern electronic dance music.

“It was a really great evening with a real Mr Smith’s vibe. Wiggy, the original Mr Smith’s dancer, was there and we also had fire eaters and dancers as well as a bongo player and sax player.

“Also with the kind permission of his family, we had a cardboard cutout of Mr Smith’s icon Stan the Man so his presence will live on.”

Mr Smith’s was demolished following a fire in 2015. The club had its heyday in the 1980s when it was frequently used as a filming location for The Hitman and Her starring Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan.

Passion returns to Bruno’s Rodizio on Saturday, March 30, with DJs Alastair Stirrup, Mark Faulkner, Danny Hyland, Haggie P and Anna Klaric.

Tickets are £5 and are available from Bruno’s. The event runs from 10pm to 3am.
