POLICE have issued a warning after a pensioner was conned out of hundreds of pounds.
The elderly woman from Orford yesterday handed over £500 to a group of men who promised to clean her gutters, who then left having done little to no work.
Officers have now issued a warning over allowing cold callers to complete work at your property and to ensure elderly neighbours or relatives are not targeted.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “An elderly lady in the Orford area was today the victim of a callous Fraud where she handed over £500 to males who promised to clean her gutters, who then left having apparently done very little or nothing.
“Accept the offers of work from cold-callers with caution, especially ones who turn up and point out problems that they have expertly spotted from the kerbside.
