LAST week in Yester Years we brought you the story of the former Hippodrome.
The Academy Way venue, now a nightclub, had been a theatre, cinema and a bingo hall in its 100 year plus history.
This week, we have shared one of our favourite pictures of a cinema in Warrington – the old Queens Cinema in Orford.
Located on Orford Lane at Longford Street and Rhodes Street. The Queens Picture House was opened in the early 1900s.
In the early-1930s, it was re-named Queens Talkie Picture Theatre, later reverting back to Queens Picture House.
It was closed in May 1960 and demolished to create a petrol station on the site.
Now it is home to a car wash.
- Do you have memories of the Queens?
