THE Bishop of Warrington will be lending a hand to an unusual approach to building a church in Birchwood.

The Rt Revd Beverley Mason will be joining a Lego building event organised by The Church of the Transfiguration next Saturday, March 9 between 10am and 11.30am.

The morning of building fun will include free bacon butties, crafts, challenges and lots of Lego building.

Due to falling congregation numbers The Church of the Transfiguration closed several years ago.

However, a new team led by the vicar Rev Rebecca Roberts and supported by Bishop Bev are working hard to get the church open again, under the new name of The Table.

The Lego event is just one of many aimed at reopening the church for regular services again.

The Lego event is also part of an initiative called Tell Serve Give, which aims to bring together local churches and their communities on the weekend of March 7 to 10 across the Diocese of Liverpool.

All are welcome at the event at The Church of the Transfiguration on Admirals Road, Birchwood (next to Birchwood C of E Primary school and Oakwood Shops).

The event is free. More information is available at Facebook/Transfigurationbirchwood.
