ROADWORKS in Ramsbottom are likely to be in place throughout the weekend while a gas leak is fixed.

Cadent Gas have been investigating the leak in Bolton Road West, close to Woodhey High School, since Monday and managed to pinpoint the exact location last night.

Two-way traffic lights have been in place all week, and are expected to last until Monday by when it is hoped the work will have been completed.

No homes in the area are thought to have been affected by the leak.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey if they are travelling near in the area.

A spokesman for Cadent said: "We identified a leak on a gas main underneath Bolton Road West last night.

"We have had to order a bespoke piece in order to repair that pipe. Hopefully that will arrive this afternoon so we can complete that.

"We will then arrange for the road to be filled over the weekend.

"We can only apologise for the disruption."
