REPORTS on social media claim children have allegedly been approached by someone in a van in York.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the force received reports of a suspicious van in the Acomb area of York at around 6.45pm yesterday.
“Officers are currently making inquiries and an investigation is ongoing,” the spokesman added.
He was unable to share any more details about the investigation.
Yesterday evening, the force's control room tweeted: "We are aware of numerous reports of incidents involving a silver van in the Acomb area of York. If anything suspicious is seen please call 101 and quote incident NYP-21022019-0482."
Some reports on social media say the van has been travelling around the Acomb and Dringhouses areas.
Pictures of a van have appeared on social media, but police have not released images or a registration number at the moment.
