RESIDENTS in Penketh were left to tidy up Wythenshaw park today, Thursday after vandals targeted the children's play area.
The bin in the play area had been broken open, the inner rubbish can had been removed, flattened, stamped on and broken, and the rubbish spread out over the play area.
Two glass bottles had been smashed and spread over the soft flooring of the apparatus and grassed areas.
Craig Lenihan, Penketh parish councillor, told residents the PCSO regularly walks through Wythenshaw on his rounds, but it is a large patch to cover.
There are now discussions regarding an idea to cut the bushes at the front where the park meets the road in order to make the space more open and less attractive to groups who wish to hide in privacy.
