YOUNGSTERS from Woolston Rovers, Rylands Sharks and Culcheth Eagles all took part in an under 7s tournament over the weekend.

Cadishead were the other side involved in the four-team round-robin and all four sides played some excellent rugby in a great spirit.

Lucas Charnley won player of the tournament for host team Woolston, while Charlie Wilson scored eight tries in three games for Rylands.

CHARLIE Yeomans scored three tries and a conversion for Rylands, while Thomas Ashurst, Callum Sharp and Ciaran Card also crossed for the Sharks.

REAGAN Higham and Kyle Roberts both scored twice for Rovers, with further tries coming from Finlay Atkinson and Kyle Roberts.

SAMUEL Lafferty’s double and a further score from Ashley Holbrook could not prevent defeat for Rylands. Conversions came from Layton Weedon, Liam Bretherton and Callum Bennett.

TWO tries each from Lewis Spencer, Finley Haigh and Spencer Buller earned Crosfields a pre-season win. Daniel Beaumont got their other try with Spencer, Charlie Rooney and Isaac Worthington adding conversions.

JASPER Porter scored Rylands’ only try in this game.

BEN Slater picked up the player of the match award for Woolston, with Kobe Sims winning the top tackler prize.

REECE Dobbs and Kobi Stevenson won the player of the match and top tackler awards respectively for Rovers.

WILLIAM Millar, Taylor Forster and Sam Cain Lewis all scored twice for Rovers, with Charlie Dobson, Finley James and Louie Stephenson also crossing the whitewash.

For Rylands, Patrick Kane and Billy Hillen won player of the match awards.
