ISSUES that prevented residents submitting objections to plans to demolish a 450-year-old village pub have been resolved.

Osborne and Co has submitted an application to knock down the sixteenth century Raven Inn in Glazebury and build 10 houses on the land.

But the proposals sparked outrage from residents, who launched a campaign to save the site which closed as a pub last year.

Residents have been submitting objections to the plans via the council’s website but some have experienced difficulties.

Fraser Hampson, who grew up in Glazebury, set up the Help save the Raven Inn page on Facebook.

He said: “A number of members from our group have been struggling when trying to submit an objection, plus they have not been able to view the planning documents and other objections, which has been an impediment to a lot of people.”

The council has investigated the issue.

A spokesman said: “A member of the public has raised with us that there are a small number of individuals encountering a problem in accessing the Raven Inn planning application.

“The issue has now been resolved.”

The public have previously highlighted the prospect of nominating the land as an asset of community value and, possibly, turning it into a community hub.

Furthermore, they have discussed the possibility of turning the site into a community-owned pub, if the application is rejected.

The spokesman added that residents can also submit objections by e-mailing devcontrol@warrington.gov.uk.
