COMMUNITIES across Wirral are being urged to apply for funding to transform an unloved green space into a blossoming haven this summer.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is running its Greening Grey Britain scheme for the fourth year running and is offering up to 50 gardening projects across the UK with £500 worth of plants and materials.
RHS community outreach manager, Liz Stewart said: “In 2018 the RHS Greening Grey Britain scheme helped nearly 3,000 people with their greening projects and supplied more than 5,000 plants.
"We’d love to hear from communities interested in improving a local space this year and encourage them to get their bids in.”
Projects submitted for funding should help improve health and wellbeing, address environmental issues or support local wildlife.
They may include turning forgotten littered corners into vibrant wildflower meadows, car parks lined with trees to slow down storm water or disused areas becoming productive gardens.
The deadline for applications is midnight on February 28.
