A MUM-OF-ONE who told her daughter she could be whatever she wanted to be by putting her mind to it, has practised what she preached by becoming a gold medal-winning weightlifter.
Chelsey Murdoch, from Great Sankey, appeared on ITV's This Time Next Year on Tuesday night, to make her pledge.
The 44-year-old told host Davina McCall that she wanted to become a weightlifter in May 2017, she then returned one year later to show off her skills.
Chelsey, a teacher at Riverside College in Widnes, got the idea after watching a the sport at Sweat gym in Widnes.
She said: "I just thought 'that looks fun' and decided to give it a go.
"I teach adult skills at college and tell people all the time that they can be what they want to be so I thought I'd take my own advice and try something new."

Within her first year of weightlifting, Chelsey managed to win three gold medals at the British and European championships.
Chelsey added: "I went from to have never lifted a weight in my life to three top places at three competitions – it has been amazing."
Chelsey is now looking for sponsorship from companies so she can continue to train as a weightlifter.
