TRAFFORD MV host rock bottom Tyldesley on Saturday in the first of three final matches in the ADM Premier Division, looking to end the campaign on a positive note.

A great start to the season saw MV leading the league but a prolonged run of below-par performances saw the side slip into the bottom half.

Now adrift of higher-placed competition, MV are keen to end their season top of the also-rans and this weekend's game is a must-win fixture.

The teams have met twice already this season in league and cup with MV narrow winners on both occasions. Tyldesley will be playing for pride and MV need to put their game plan into clinical effect and make a statement of their intent.

Kick off at MV's MacPherson Park is 5.15pm and spectators are welcome.

The club always have an eye on the future and they are inviting any local youngsters who want to play rugby union to join their young players' academy.

They coach youngsters from four years old up to under-16s' level, and any parents interested in their children trying the sport or improving their rugby skills within a friendly, well-organised club can contact Wilf Dooley on 01942 884542 or email wilfdooley@virginmedia.com for details.

Meanwhile, Trafford MV Cricket Club also started its winter junior nets on Sunday at Manor High School.

Anyone interested in getting involved in cricket for seven to 12 year olds can contact Andrew Hamer on 07766 512454 for more information.
