FRIENDS of Culcheth Library have partnered with national charity The Reader to bring a new kind of reading group to Culcheth.

The shared reading group works by bringing people together to read books out loud to improve well-being, reduce social isolation and build a stronger community.

Literature will be specially chosen by The Reader’s volunteer reader leader Laura Thomason, who is also a member of Friends of Culcheth Library.

Laura said: “I’m so excited to bring Shared Reading to Culcheth. It’s a fantastic initiative, which brings people together and brings literature to life.”

You can just drop in, sit down and enjoy listening to a great story or poem – there’s no pressure to talk or read.

The Reader was launched in Birkenhead ten years ago and now has more than 500 groups supported by an army of 1,000 volunteers.

The group meets every Thursday afternoon from 12.45pm until 2 pm in Culcheth Library. The sessions are free and open to everyone with tea and coffee provided.

There is no need to book, but if you wish to register interest, you can contact Culcheth Library on 01925 763293
