ST Rocco’s Hospice has received funding to buy valuable patient care equipment as part of community action campaign headed by lager brand Carling.

Nominated for support by the Sizzling pub, The Cherry Tree in Culcheth, St Rocco’s Hospice has been able to inject cash into its Vitality Centre facility, which provides a variety of therapy programmes to inpatients, with new chair scales and pear push leads.

The chair scale, a wheelchair with an integrated weighing system, is crucial in allowing patients who are unable to stand to be weighed quickly, easily and with minimum discomfort, whilst the pear push leads are a crucial calling product that enables individuals with limited mobility and strength to contact their nurse.

On Tuesday, March 5, to recognise their contribution, staff from The Cherry Tree have been invited to the hospice to meet the appreciative healthcare professionals, support staff and patients, as well as see the newly bought products in use.

Fundraising manager Rachel Ingham said: “The new equipment will prove vital in supporting our patients for many years to come.

"We are very grateful for this funding award from the Sizzling and Carling community action campaign."
