WARRINGTON could get a slice of a £5 million pie for hosting games in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

A legacy fund has been set up by organisers ahead of the tournament to boost the sport at a grassroots level.

It was confirmed last week that Warrington would host three games in the men's tournament at The Halliwell Jones Stadium at the event which will take place in October and November 2021.

It will also stage the physical disability tournament in its entirety with games likely to be played at The Victoria Park arena and the HJ.

As such, Warrington could benefit from extra money for Victoria Park.

While the facilities have improved in recent years, problems with the pitches remain which would be helped with a cash injection.
