WARRINGTON Youth Club has been awarded thousands of pounds in a 'tampon tax' grant.
The charity is one of six in Cheshire to by awarded a share of a £43,000 pot, funded by the Cheshire Community Foundation and the Tampon Tax Community Fund – which allocates monies generated from the VAT paid on sanitary products in order to help disadvantaged women and girls.
In total, Warrington Youth Club received a grant of £3,578 – to be used to fund a programme which will see vulnerable teenage girls in the town being supported by trained staff and peers.
Zoe Sheppard, chief executive of the Cheshire Community Foundation, said: "Community foundations work with grassroots groups who are running vital services on a shoestring and supporting some of the most marginalised people in our society.
"This funding will enable them to run some amazing projects that make difference on the ground to the women and girls who need it most."
