PRIMARY school pupils in Orford hit the high notes after being chosen to perform at a prestigious music event.

St Bridget's Catholic Primary School in Orford was successful in applying for the children in their choir to perform at the Peace Proms 2019 at the Liverpool Arena with Medley Music for Schools.

Fran Sixsmith, Medley Music tutor, said: "The Peace Proms promotes 'peace through music' and is a celebration of music, youth and talent giving the children an opportunity to sing as a choir in a large-scale production and a full symphony youth orchestra.

"This is an amazing opportunity for the children with a fun, engaging programme which has been inspirational to teach with Mr Jones."

Ceri Dobson, head teacher at St Bridget's, added: "The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland is the featured youth orchestra for the Peace Proms 2019.

"Conducted by internationally acclaimed UK music educator Greg Beardsell, renowned for his extraordinary ability to lead powerful and exhilarating performances, the Peace Proms 2019 will bring a shared love for music and passion for peace to ever-greater numbers of children, schools, communities and live audiences throughout the UK and Ireland.

"What an opportunity for our children."
