A GARDEN centre in Widnes has raised £300 for a charity which transforms community spaces in Halton.

Notcutts Rivendell Garden Centre in Mill Lane has presented a cheque to The Wonky Garden, a not-for-profit organisation with a network of volunteers who design, create and nurture vibrant community spaces in Runcorn, Widnes and the surrounding areas.

The money was collected through the carrier bag charge, where customers pay 5p for a single-use plastic bag.

Notcutts Rivendell Garden Centre has supported The Wonky Garden since its inception in May 2017, donating plants, tools and supplies.

The expert team at the garden centre have also provided horticultural advice and supported the build on a number of projects.

The Wonky Garden aims to bring people of all ages together to develop a closer community, prevent social isolation, share knowledge and improve physical and mental health.

David Quigley, general manager at Notcutts Rivendell Garden Centre said: “We’re very proud to support The Wonky Garden for the fantastic work that they do in our community. “They have already produced some beautiful outdoor spaces and we look forward to working with them on further projects in the future.”
