A COUPLE in Latchford who met 62 years ago are keeping romance alive as they celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.

Eric and Elizabeth (Betty) Shaw met when they were just 20 and 16 and were married two years later at St Augustine's Church in Latchford.

They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage on December 27.

The couple have a son, two granddaughters and a great granddaughter who joined them for a family meal to celebrate the occasion.

Eric is currently honorary president of Warrington Town AFC and his affiliation with the club stems back to the 1970s when he was a player himself.

Betty is also well known in the community for her dedication to St Rocco's Hospice.

She has volunteered for the charity for more than 25 years and is still continuing as a volunteer, aged 77.

On the celebration of their marriage, Eric told Betty: "I wish we were just starting over."
