VIRGIN Media is set to shut its town centre store.

The telecommunications giant has confirmed that it will permanently close its Golden Square Shopping Centre branch later this month.

Employees' futures remain unclear, but Virgin says it is 'working closely' with affected workers.

A spokesman said: “"We often review our retail estate to ensure we have stores and kiosks in the right locations to support our growth plans.

"As a result of our most recent review, we plan to close our store in Warrington later this month.

"We have been working closely with the employees impacted since November to guide them through a comprehensive consultation process.

"This will ensure we identify all opportunities and options for a continued career at Virgin Media, or any alternative path they choose to take."
