I SYMPATHISE with Colette Jones, chairman of Radcliffe and Redvales Flood Action Group, who feels they have been fobbed off with wooden cladding, when stone was preferred (Bury Times, December 13).

However, I am not sure citizens of Windsor, or a leafy suburb of Cheshire, would have fared any better, as she suggests.

Whatever the average personal incomes in different parts of this country, all have been squeezed by the austerity policy of the present Conservative, and the preceding (coalition ) government, when it comes to public expenditure.

As an example of another type of service, there are now no Sunday bus services in quite a number of Cheshire villages, or indeed in the town of Wilmslow.
