WELCOME to one of Warrington’s best kept secrets.

No 4 is a gin and cocktail bar that is tucked away upstairs at Austin’s Ball Room in St Austins Lane.

Husband and wife team Karl and Zoe Jennings originally opened the sports bar in March but have now also revamped the first floor to create a more diverse offering at the venue.

Just those few steps in between Austin’s and No 4 make all the difference because the space has been completely transformed with a plush, party atmosphere for gin lovers.

Bar manager Sammy Cross, 25, said: “People love it the first time they see it.

“We’ve got a pink area and a green area with marble tables, funky lights and a big blossom tree so it’s quite quirky.

“There is nothing in Warrington like it. We wanted to do something different and offer a little bit more as you’re only going to get so many people coming in for sport.”

The specialist bar, with space for around 110 people, has about 40 varieties of gin on offer with a DJ on Saturdays and open mic on Sundays.

Sammy, who previously worked at The Wine Bar Stockton Heath and Oliver’s and Fagin’s in Penketh, added: “It’s good because when people have functions on they usually want to come down for a sing and a dance so it works out well.

“It’s a bit of a hidden gem because the bar is a bit out of the way in between the town centre and Palmyra Square.

“The only reason they’re finding out is because of word of mouth and social media.

“We are starting to see regulars but then we’ll see new faces every week which is really nice. We’ve got a good little team behind us. No 4 is only open at weekends at the moment while we build it up but we offer free room hire so people can book it on week days or reserve an area on a Saturday night.

“We’ve already hosted engagement parties and birthday groups, and Christmas bookings are coming in.

“The building has changed a lot in Karl and Zoe’s hands. It’s not a dingy sports pub, it’s a really nice high-end bar and we all have a good laugh there.”
