A WHITTLE Hall woman is set to pound the streets of Warrington after vowing to complete 365km in 365 days as part of her new year’s resolution.

Piyawan Clark only started running in September but she is determined to complete the charity challenge in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the Thai Red Cross – two causes close to her heart.

The jeweller, who works at Beaverbrooks in Golden Square Shopping Centre, raised £410 for Cancer Research UK in September after running 10k in the English Half Marathon in Warrington.

The money was matched by her employer, who has agreed to once again double any funds raised by the self-proclaimed novice runner in her next charity challenge.

The 43-year-old said: “I had never been running before and decided, if I was going to do something new then I would involve a charity so I can fundraise for them.

“I do what I can to help other people, I have lived in this country for 20 years and now I want to give back.”

Piyawan is also encouraging others to join in with her and take part in the challenge to raise further funds for the two worthwhile causes.

She said: “The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives.

“It’s only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.

“£24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.”

Anyone can start the challenge at any time but there is one requirement.
Participants must have completed the challenge by the end of January 2020.

She added: “You can set your own goals if you cannot manage running.

“I started in November but you can start after Christmas and New Year so that you can celebrate and enjoy the rest of this year before you start.”
