This weekend is particularly busy with festive events all over Warrington.

Here is our pick of events taking place across the town.

CHRISTMAS TEEPEE Old Fish Market, Golden Square

 

The teepee is the hub of the Golden Square’s seasons greetings where you can enjoy the likes of mulled wine, beer, Prosecco and soft drinks.

There will also be live music and DJs from 5pm every Friday.

CHRISTMAS MAKERS MARKET Golden Square, Buttermarket Street, Warrington Market, Market Gate, Friday to Sunday

 

From Friday to Sunday you can expect a bumper Christmas shopping experience with award-winning artisan food and drink producers and artists and craftspeople trading alongside independent Warrington sellers like Snoutwood Trotters. There will be about 60 stalls on Friday with about 80 on both Saturday and Sunday as well as street entertainment

ALIVE AFTER FIVE Warrington Market, Friday, 5pm to 7pm

Live music, family entertainment and hot food and drink will be on offer during the market’s Friday evening openings for the festive period

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL St Mary's Church in Lymm, Friday to Sunday

SCORES of Christmas trees go on display in Lymm this weekend in what promises to be the biggest festival yet.

St Mary’s Church hosts its fourth Christmas Tree festival from Friday until Sunday.

More than 40 trees will be on display with choirs and musicians.

LANTERN MAKING SESSIONS St Thomas’ Church Hall, Ellesmere Road, Stockton Heath, Friday, from 3.30pm

Following this, there will be a lantern walk, where those who made a lantern will be invited to gather outside the Mulberry Tree before walking down London Road, progressing to Stockton Heath Primary School for a Christmas fair.

STOCKTON HEATH CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON Friday

Children at Stockton Heath Primary School in West Avenue and St Thomas' C of E Primary School in Parkgate Road will be singing carols following the Christmas tree light switch-on at 6pm in Victoria Square.

Dogs are welcome to attend, providing they are kept on a lead.

CHRISTMAS FAIR Penketh and Great Sankey Conservative Club on Meeting Lane in Penketh, Saturday, 12pm to 4pm

The event, in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice, will be run by the Hood Manor shop and there will be tombola, raffle, fancy goods, jewellery and toy stalls.

CHRISTMAS FAIR Thelwall Parish Hall, Saturday, 2pm

A chance to buy gifts and meet Santa in his grotto

CHRISTMAS AT COCKHEDGE Saturday, 11am to 4pm

Free family entertainment with face painting and roller skating fairy

SANTA’S MAGICAL SLEDGE Golden Square, December Saturday, 11am to 4pm, free

 

WARRINGTON youngsters will be able to meet Santa and witness a magical parade at Golden Square shopping centre this weekend.

Starting on Saturday, the free ‘Santa’s Magical Sleigh’ event will kick off at 11am at the centre in Market Place with its first festive parade.

It will feature giant stilt walkers, themed characters, musical performers and the cast of Parr Hall’s pantomime, Robin Hood, before pitching up at the ‘Sleigh Stop’ near New Look.

At the Sleigh Stop, Warrington’s children will have the chance to hop on board and tell Santa what is on their wish list, before he embarks on other parades at 1pm and 3pm.

CHRISTMAS FAIR St Wilfrid’s Parish Church, Grappenhall, Saturday, from 2pm

A host of craft stalls with free activities for the kids plus the popular grand teddy tombola. Guests will also get to meet Father Christmas, sip mulled wine and enjoy a selection of festive food and treats, while being serenaded by Scottish bagpipes.

Warrington Guardian: The Rams Head in Grappenhall Village

At 5pm there will carol singing around the St Wilfrid’s Christmas tree with the children’s choir. Entry is £2 (children go free)

REMEMBERING LOVED ONES AT CHRISTMAS Penketh Methodist Church, Saturday

A short memorial service will take place at 2pm and refreshments are available after the service with the opportunity to place a star on the Christmas tree in memory of loved ones.

CHRISTINGLE SERVICE Christ Church, Padgate, Sunday, from 4pm

It marks the start of a busy period of festive events at the church
