SOME people will do anything to get a day off school...

This week in Yester Years we have gone back into our archives to dog out this remarkable picture from the 1980s.

It shows a rescue attempt by members of Cheshire Fire Service at St John’s RC High School in Latchford.

Flooding was common place in the Latchford area at that time as the Mersey would regularly burst its banks.

This period of heavy rain also caused problems in nearby Victoria Park and in Howley as well.

Although flooding is now set to be consigned to the history books after work to create flood defences on both sides of the river were completed earlier this year.

n Do you recognise anyone in the picture or where you involved in the rescue attempte?
