PAUL Carden says Warrington Town “looked more like themselves” but rued lapses in concentration during today’s 1-1 draw with Basford United.

Yellows looked well set at half time after Jack Mackreth gave them the lead, but Stefan Galinski headed home a corner to ensure the visitors left Cantilever Park with a point.

Despite bombarding the Basford goal late on, Warrington could not force a winner and Carden thinks they did all they could to earn three points.

He also insisted Galinski’s goal was totally avoidable from his side’s perspective.

“We couldn’t really have done any more than what we tried to do,” he said.

“We just missed that little bit of composure and quality with our final pass.

“We’ve hit the woodwork a couple of times and we’ve put them under a lot of pressure.

“I thought we looked a bit more like a team today and a lot more like ourselves.

“We made a few changes and I thought there were some good performances individually.

“I thought we were the team trying harder to score in that second half. They were delaying the game a lot and taking their time.

“Robbo (Mark Roberts) needed to be tighter to the man for their goal.

“If he (Galinski) gets a run and jump on you, he only needs to lean on you and he’s above you. Robbo knows that because he’s the same.

“What Dylan (Vassallo) is doing on the far post is beyond me.

“If he stands inside the post, it hits his chest or perhaps even lower, but he was stood outside the post.

“That’s what frustrates me because the lads have worked so hard, but it’s just lapses in concentration that are costing us at the moment.”

Carden made five changes to his starting line-up from last week’s 1-0 defeat at Hednesford, with Josh Amis returning to the team up front.

The Yellows boss was pleased with how the target man performed despite what he felt was some unfair treatment from referee Dale Baines.

“Josh has been working hard to get himself a bit fitter.

“I thought he put a shift in today, but the referee did not give him anything at all. I thought the referee was poor.

“He never gave us a thing. We had him against Bamber Bridge earlier this season and it was the same.

“I’ve said a million times that we need to take referees out of the equation. If we have to play against 12, that’s what we have to do.

“They are the ones coming off happy with a point and they should be, because any point against us here is a good one.”
