A MUM-OF-THREE has called on the public help's to trace a war veteran who inspired her to paint his portrait.

Brandy Miller, from Croft, attended the town centre Remembrance Day service to watch her son take part in the parade while remembering those whose made the ultimate sacrifice.

It was during the memorial ceremony on Sunday that the 41-year-old met a former soldier, whose heroic story inspired her to create a watercolours painting.

She said: "My son was in the parade so we went to watch and pay our respects.

"My daughter asked me if there would be any real soldiers there.

"We started talking to this man and he shared his story.

"I believe he had been on around 35 missions. His story really touched me.

"So when I saw his picture online I decided to paint a portrait of him.

"I would love to be able to give it to him."

The veteran is believed to be either 94 or 95 years old and served in the Air Force.

Anyone who can help has been asked to email lauren.hirst@nqnw.co.uk.
