TWO days before Armistice Day, around 100 pupils gathered at the Peace Centre to remember those who lost their lives and reflect on the peace process in the months, years and decades that followed.

As part of the national INSPIRE programme, events were held across the county to inspire a new generation to take positive action towards peace and conflict resolution in their communities and personal relationships.

Members of the public gathered in school halls, religious building and community centres to mark the centenary of the signing of the Armistice.

A spokesman for The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation said: "We had a truly inspirational morning at the Peace Centre, with all the children learning about not only remembrance for those who died, but also about what people have been doing since to bring about peace in the wake of two world wars.

"Children can feel disconnected to events that happened so long ago, but the team here worked to bring the meaning of the Armistice to life for them, so they would understand the sacrifices made by those affected by war, and what it means to be a peace-builder."
