THIS was the scene earlier today, Monday, on Grappenhall Lane in Appleton.
Emergency services were called to the area at 5.50am following reports of a broken-down HGV this morning.
A police spokesman said: "There is currently a broken-down HGV with locked air brakes on Grappenhall Lane, Appleton.
"PC Cuerden has tried pushing it out of the way, but just wasn't strong enough.
"Duty garage are on scene and the road should be open soon."
The road was reopened a short time later.
