A HR consultant proposed to his girlfriend after completing a 35-mile run, as he aims to complete dozens of charity challenges by the end of the year.

Jason Bruce, a member of Warrington Running Club, only took up jogging a year ago but has packed 2018 with more than 30 10ks, half marathons and ultra-marathons in a bid to raise £2,018 for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

The 30-year-old has already run hundreds of miles and raised £1,310 so far.

And the most memorable moment of his challenge came when he proposed to girlfriend Amrita Govindji at the end of a gruelling 35-mile run as part of the Ultra Tour of Edinburgh last month.

Jason’s fellow Warrington Running Club members have also supported him by holding a bake sale at the English Half Marathon in September, raising more than £300.

His efforts will finish on New Year’s Eve with the Liverbird Marathon.

The Stockport resident said: “I certainly wasn’t a runner, but I jumped in with both feet and got a real buzz from running.

“I didn’t envisage doing all these challenges, but each time I complete on I look forward to the next.

“I’ve been to Francis House and have a soft spot for children’s hospices.

“The work they do for families is incredible, helping them to live life to the full and create memorable experiences.

“Francis House is an amazing cause and deserves all the support I can give.

“When you look at the work that is carried out for some of the more vulnerable people within our society, it brings into perspective how lucky most of us are and how minor our own issues are without us.”
