A MAN accused of carrying an imitation firearm on a train from Warrington will appear in court next month.

Caiden Black of Sheffield Close, was charged with one count of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place after he was detained by police at Manchester Oxford Road station on Tuesday morning.

Witnesses reported how a man who boarded the train at Warrington Central station was surrounded by officers after the alarm was raised by concerned commuters.

One train passenger told the Warrington Guardian that the weapon became visible when the man sat down on the train.

She said: "One lady texted the authorities and somehow the train guards were alerted and they simply came and sat opposite him.

"The train terminated at Oxford Road and bizarrely we all walked off the train in a normal manner.

"The guy with the gun was walking right in front of me and then I saw two police officers running towards us.

"I simply pointed at the guy in front of me and the male police officer pinned him up against the train window."

The 25-year-old suspect will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on December 4.
