RESIDENTS from Widnes and Runcorn are invited to take part in the annual services of remembrance this November.

Members of the Royal British Legion, Halton district and Widnes district, will be performing the services on Sunday, November 11, to mark the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

The Widnes service will be held at the war memorial in Victoria Park in Birchfield Road.

A civic procession will assemble at 10.05am in Lockett Road, and will move off at 10.35am to arrive at the war memorial at 10.45am.

The Runcorn service will be held at the cenotaph in Greenway Road.

Beforehand, the civic procession will assemble at St. Michael’s Church in Greenway Road at 2.30pm and will move off at 2.45pm to arrive at the cenotaph at 3.00pm.

Further commemorative activities are happening in Runcorn on Monday November 5 at 2pm.

Part of the two lawns on either side of the war memorial in Greenway Road will be rededicated as gardens of remembrance.

A short service of dedication will be held anyone wishing to place British Legion remembrance crosses are most welcome to do so.

Halton Borough Council has agreed to endorse the Royal British Legion's appeal to the general public and organisations to observe a two minutes silence on November 11 at 11am.
