WARRINGTON'S RBS branch will close as planned next month.

The banking giant has announced that its Horsemarket Street branch will shut on Thursday, November 15.

According to a new report, counter transactions have reduced by 41 per cent since 2012.

RBS says only 65 customers are using the branch on a regular basis and of these, 38 per cent also use other branches.

A total of 7,950 customers visited the branch in the past six months and of thee 78 per cent also bank online, via telephone or at an ATM.

Customers are being told to use the NatWest branch in Sankey Street, Stockton Heath or Widnes instead.

A spokesman for RBS said it was working with staff ahead of the closure and it has offered help and support to customers so they can find other options for their banking in the future.
