I HAVE been a Warrington Wolves supporter for more than 60 years and would like to congratulate the team on achieving all they have done in Steve Price’s first season.

Who would have thought after the first four weeks of the season we would have played in both major cup finals and could have, with a little bit of luck, won both?

I have watched Warrington in every final they have played in from the Lancashire Cup finals to the Grand Finals over the past 60 years and have either come away very happy or very sad but last Saturday was the first time I have come away very disgusted.

Having taken our £50 seats surrounded by other pensioners, ladies and children, we settled down to watch the match, when after about five minutes two young men in their early 20s pushed their way to their seats causing mayhem – one in a Warrington jersey and one in a Wigan jersey.

I won’t call them rugby league supporters, they then proceeded to behave like animals and used the worst kind of gutter language, trying and succeeding to intimidate everyone around them.

Before the match there were hundreds of stewards searching ladies’ handbags. One lady we were with had hers searched three times but at the first sign of trouble the Old Trafford stewards were conspicuous by their absence.

Eventually after ruining most of the first half for everybody the two left.

They had obviously been drinking all afternoon, but that was no excuse because a lot of the transport had left Warrington at lunch time and nobody else had caused any trouble.

To our dismay one of the two returned after half time and very sheepishly took his seat, he looked quite ill and his mate the Warrington supporter returned about 10 minutes later also very quietly.

A little later the other lad was sick all over the seats in front, fortunately the two ladies in front had moved to seats either side.

We all had to sit there for the rest of the afternoon smelling vomit!

Thanks lads it’s the last time I will be going to Old Trafford.
