A FORMER lecturer is to share his passion and knowledge of local history in a talk at Arley Hall.

Stuart Elliott will speak about English village life over the past 250 years next Thursday, October 25 in the Olympia suite.

His talk will start in 1750 and lead right up to the present day. Themes include the contribution villages have made to national and social change and development in England.

“I aim to keep my delivery not too academic or formal, but I do want the audience to have a taste of the evidence on which the story is based,” he said.

His talk will draw on contemporary documents and pictures of surviving historic buildings as well as on the experiences and challenges faced by village communities over the years.

Tickets are £15 and include drinks before and after the event. To book email patriciahazlehurst@gmail.com or call 0161 962 3507.
