ONE of the north west’s premier scare attractions is back and Weekend has teamed up with the organisers to offer four fast-track passes to the experience.

Spooky World, set on a 40-acre plot of land off Stretton Road, opens tomorrow, Friday, and runs until November 3.

Described as not for the faint-hearted, the Halloween attraction launched in 2006 and is renowned for its intense ‘scary at night’ experience.

Fright fans must survive the zombie-filled Field of Screams, the demented clowns of Carnevil, the mutated pig-men of The Slaughter House and the Haunted House and Hayride when they will face more than 40 scare actors. But the attraction is transformed into a family-friendly Halloween attraction by day aimed at children aged between four and 11.

Spooky World – on the same site as Apple Jack’s Adventure Farm – has also introduced a toned down version of ‘scary at night’ called ‘spooky at night’ which is for 10 to 14 year olds on October 17, 24 and November 3. The event has become very popular among horror fans over the years with up to 1,000 people attending at peak times.

Spokesman Dave Smith said: “People now come from all over the north west and further afield for Spooky World. Some people make a thing of coming to all of these kinds of scare attractions so it wouldn’t be uncommon for us to have someone visiting from London.

“People enjoy the scare factor. They want to be frightened. They want that excitement and many return time and again. They call it the 4D experience where you have live actors interacting with you.”

The Sulby Avenue resident added: “It’s interesting seeing how people respond to it. Some whizz through it all and occasionally people go into the first attraction and that’s it. They won’t go into any of the others because they’re so scared.

“There’s five attractions, there’s also scare actors wandering about plus people dress up for it so you’ve got these ‘ghouls’ adding to the atmosphere as well.”
