MEMBERS of Lymm Angling Club were thanked by residents on the Bridgewater Canal last week after they helped rescue the body of a dead dog.

The dog was stuck in the Bridgewater Canal near Windmill Hill for four days.

Peel Holdings refused to take responsibility for the dog and eventually residents living on canal boats called Lymm Angling Club as they were concerned about water contamination.

Several residents had tried to lift the dog, near Norton Bridge, out but it proved too heavy.

The dog had been badly attacked.
